S31254 F44 SMO254 DIN/EN: X1CrNiMoCuN20-18-7 W.Nr:1.4547 Dia 300mm X 1Mtr Long Stainless Steel Round Bar
1.Product Description
S31254/254SMo/1.4547 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel. Because of its high molybdenum content, it has a very high resistance to corrosion and crevice corrosion resistance. This grade of stainless steel is developed and developed for use in environments containing halides such as seawater. S31254 stainless steel also has good resistance to uniform corrosion. Especially in halide-containing acids, the steel is superior to ordinary stainless steel. Its C contains <0.03%, so called pure austenitic stainless steel (<0.01% also known as super austenitic stainless steel). Super stainless steel is a special kind of stainless steel, first in the chemical composition and ordinary stainless steel is different, refers to high nickel, high chromium, high molybdenum a high alloy stainless steel. Which is more famous is containing 6% Mo 254SMo, this kind of steel has a very good resistance to local corrosion, in the sea, inflatable, there is gap, low speed erosion conditions, good pitting resistance (PI ≥ 40) and Better resistance to stress corrosion, Ni-based alloy and titanium alloy alternative materials. Followed by high temperature or corrosion resistance of the performance, with more excellent high temperature or corrosion resistance, 304 stainless steel can not be replaced. In addition, from the classification of stainless steel, special stainless steel microstructure is a stable austenitic microstructure.

- Alloy 254 SMO is a very high end, molybdenum and nitrogen alloyed super austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. It demonstrates outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion stress cracking, and corrosion fatigue uniform corrosion. Alloy 254 SMO is substantially stronger than the common austenitic grades, with strength nearly twice that of 300 series stainless steel. It is also characterized by high ductility and impact strength. With high levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, Alloy 254 SMO is frequently used in high chloride environments, such as brackish water, seawater, pulp mill bleach plants, and other chloride process streams. In some applications it has even been found to be a more cost effective substitute for high nickel and titanium alloys.
APPLICATIONS:
Due to its high levels of molybdenum and nickel, Alloy 254 SMO is frequently used in high chloride environments. Examples of applications that call for the used of Alloy 254 SMO include:
- Petroleum production
- Saltwater handling
- Food and chemical processing equipment
- Pulp mill bleach systems
- Flue gas desulphurization scrubbers
- Tall oil distillation columns
- Offshore oil & gas production equipment
- Desalination equipment
STANDARDS:
- ASTM/ASME: UNS S31254
- EURONORM: FeMi35Cr20Cu4Mo2
- DIN: 2.4660
-
ORROSION RESISTANCE
- Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion due to its high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content
- Has a very low carbon content, which means there is very little risk of carbide precipitation during heating
- Possesses very good resistance in water containing chlorides, therefore, it is suitable for use in seawater as it can be exposed to it for prolonged periods without suffering from crevice corrosion
